Graduation
In order to complete your undergraduate degree, you need to declare your degree candidacy at the Registrar's Office. Please complete the online Application For Undergraduate Degree Form (AFD) by the Add Deadline of the semester prior to the one in which you plan to complete your requirements for graduation. Only those students who have an application form on file in this office will be considered degree candidates. If you do not graduate in the semester you have indicated on this form, you must submit a new application for the correct semester. The online form can only be completed by students currently enrolled at Binghamton Univeristy. If you are enrolled somewhere else at the time you would like to submit your AFD, please contact the Registrar's Office (registrar@binghamton.edu) for instructions.
Undergraduate students who already completed the paper form for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 do not need to resubmit the online form unless changing the graduation term.
Graduate students must complete the Graduate School's Declaration of Candidacy form. This form may be completed on line, or it can be completed in hard copy and submitted to the Graduate School, Couper Administration Building, Room AD-134. Visit the Graduate School's website at http://gradschool.binghamton.edu/cs/deadlines.asp for important commencement deadlines.
Commencement is held in December and May of each year. Individual colleges often also hold recognition ceremonies each May. Students eligible to participate in Fall Commencement are those who are completing all degree requirements in the Fall term or students who have completed degree requirements in the Summer term. Students eligible to participate in Spring Commencement are those who are completing all degree requirements in the Spring term. Students participating in commencement must have completed their AFD for that semester. They must also complete the online Undergraduate Commencement RSVP form to confirm their attendance and be eligible to purchase the regalia needed for the commencement ceremony.
